We’ll have updates from Kentucky Football’s latest practice of fall camp shortly. Our cameras are not allowed on the practice fields while Mark Stoops’ squad prepares for the 2023 season, but the folks at KentuckyWildcatsTV are doing us a solid, mic’ing up players for video features throughout camp. This week, we’ve gotten a glimpse of both sides of the ball, including the position group under the most scrutiny this season, the offensive line.

Senior offensive tackle Marques Cox donned the mic for yesterday’s practice. In the two-and-a-half-minute clip, we get to see the Northern Illinois transfer coach his teammates, go up against JJ Weaver and Octavious Oxendine, and celebrate with quarterback Devin Leary. The proof is in the pudding, but it’s great to hear Cox being a vocal leader on the line thus far.

Yesterday, junior defensive back Zion Childress donned the mic, giving shoutouts to his family, chatting with his teammates, and even showing off his pipes. After transferring in from Texas State, Childress played in all 13 games last season, totaling 34 tackles, 2.0 tackles for loss, a sack, and two pass breakups. His first career start came against No. 1 Georgia, and he responded, tallying a season-high nine tackles.

Need more camp footage? Last week, Eli Cox and Jordan Lovett donned mics as well.

Matthew Bradford delivers inspirational message at practice

The Cats had a special visitor at a recent practice. Matthew Bradford, a diehard Kentucky fan, Iraq war veteran, and Purple Heart recipient, spoke to the team about brotherhood and sacrifice. We’re big fans of Bradford here at KSR, and there’s no doubt that his words will serve as inspiration for the 2023 season and beyond.

Love to see it. Only 18 days until kickoff.
