Kentucky fans calling the restaurant where Scott Drew had lunch is peak BBN
You know how I know Big Blue Nation is back? We’ve got Kentucky fans calling a Mexican restaurant in Waco, Texas asking to speak to Scott Drew and going through “Family Feud” archives.
Our first official day of the coaching search started with rumors that a private jet was headed from Waco, Texas — home of Baylor and Scott Drew — to Lexington. Fans started tracking the flight online and TV stations gathered at the airport only to find out the plane landed in Georgetown instead. Around the same time, Drew tweeted out a picture from a Mexican restaurant in Waco with Eric Shero, a Baylor Booster.
Tweets like this would tamp down speculation for most fanbases. Not BBN. Kentucky fans immediately dissected the picture, with some even identifying the restaurant and flooding its reviews. Thankfully, all were five-star.
Matt Jones received word that one fan even called the restaurant and asked to speak to Drew. The waitress eventually took the phone to Drew’s table and handed it to him. From there, the fan made his plea for Drew to come to Kentucky. If this story is true, Drew took it as well as possible.

While some fans spent their time calling the restaurant, others focused on another part of the story. The TV in the background of Drew’s photo is showing “Family Feud,” specifically, the Fast Money round at the end. Today’s TV listings in Waco verify that an episode of “Family Feud” was showing at the time Drew sent out the tweet, but which one? The search for answers on this continues (different sites list different episodes) but we found the Fast Money round from the picture on YouTube:
To use a John Calipari phrase, we people are crazy. To use a Mark Stoops phrase, we’re just getting started, bro.
