It’s a trying time in Big Blue Nation. After Kentucky’s losses to Florida and Tennessee, longtime KSR caller Fake Barney sang about how it might be the “End of the Road” for John Calipari in Lexington. One week later, following the loss to Gonzaga, we heard a different perspective from another familiar voice.
Chester, most famous for his football rants, called today’s show to make an impassioned plea to BBN to stop complaining and start supporting John Calipari and the Cats amid the rough patch.
“We can sit around here as a Big Blue Nation and we can talk about Cal and we can talk about all these things and practically run him out of this state, him and Ellen, right here in the middle of the season when the season ain’t over.”
Chester used UConn (2023), North Carolina (2017), and UConn (2014) as examples of teams that struggled in the regular season but put things together to make a championship run. He still believes this group can do it, but only with the BBN by its side.

“We need to be buying a billboard. I’ll tell you what, we get a billboard here in Lexington that says, ‘I stand with Cal and the Cats’! That’s what we need to be talking about. But we can’t do it because you know why? We will shoot our wounded worse than the Christian church.”
“We have got a special team and I just hope we can come together and stop all this talk and stand with Cal and the Cats. We win the SEC, we make a run in the championship and then it’s all for nothing, all this complaining.”
Two very different viewpoints at a crossroads in the season. Are you Team Chester or Team Barney?
