Kentucky Football 2021 Win Total Opens at 6.5

Oddsmakers have released early win totals ahead of the 2021 college football season and Kentucky is in familiar territory.

DraftKings Sportsbook has set UK’s win total at 6.5, the same number the Wildcats went over in 2019, the last complete college football regular season. If you feel like that number may be low with a manageable schedule, so does DraftKings, putting all of the juice on the under.

Before the Wildcats went under 4.5 regular season wins in 2020, Kentucky hit the win total over in four straight years. There’s a pretty clear path to hitting the over this fall. Allow me to divide up the schedule into three tiers.

Likely Wins: ULM, Chattanooga, at South Carolina, at Vandy, NMSU, at UofL
Toss Ups: Missouri, Florida, LSU, Tennessee, at Miss. State
Likely Losses: at Georgia

Categorizing three road games as likely wins may seem bullish, but as you’ll see with other projected win totals, South Carolina and Vanderbilt are going to be really bad at football, while Scott Satterfield may not be on the Cardinals’ sideline by Thanksgiving weekend. To reach a seventh win, UK has four chances at home against beatable teams. If Liam Coen’s offense fits the billing, I like Kentucky’s chances to secure the bag.

Before you make a responsible wager, see how UK’s win total stacks up with some of its opponents.

Vanderbilt: 3
South Carolina: 4
Miss. State: 5.5
Tennessee: 6
Louisville: 6.5
Missouri: 7
LSU: 8.5
Florida: 9
Georgia: 10.5
