Kentucky Wide Receiver Clevan Thomas Enters the Transfer Portal
Clevan Thomas is the latest Kentucky Wildcat to enter the transfer portal. On3’s Matt Zenitz reports the wide receiver is looking for a new home for his final year of college football.
During his Kentucky career Thomas started in eight games and caught 16 passes for 169 yards and a touchdown. A former three-star prospect and Top 100 wide receiver from Miami, Fl., Thomas was recruited by Eddie Gran and signed with the Wildcats in 2017. Unfortunately, injuries prevented his career from ever getting off the ground.
Relegated to a reserve role in his first two seasons, his career was ready to take off in 2019, until Terry Wilson suffered a season-ending knee injury. Thomas had a renaissance of sorts in Liam Coen’s offense last spring. The offensive coordinator loved what the fifth-year senior brought to the slot, until Thomas suffered a season-ending knee injury. He spent the 2021 season wearing a headset on the sideline.

Thomas did not produce eye-popping numbers, but the coaches appreciated his mindset and work ethic. He essentially acted as another assistant coach last year. They welcomed him back for a Super Senior season, but he spent most of the spring running with the threes. That was probably enough to tell Thomas to pursue other options for his final college football season.
Thomas is the fourth different Kentucky football player to enter the transfer portal since the conclusion of spring practice, joining Earnest Sanders as the second wide receiver to leave the program. Fall sports athletes have until May 1 to enter their name into the transfer portal to receive immediate eligibility in 2022.
