Kentucky football could pick up FOUR commitments to kick off fall camp
The world of Kentucky football recruiting slowed down after a busy month of June, but only briefly. As the coaching staff directs its attention toward fall camp, which begins Wednesday, the Wildcats are poised to add more players.
This week four Kentucky football recruiting targets over three different recruiting classes will announce their college decisions. One could be suiting up for the Wildcats on the opening day of preseason practice. Let’s take a closer look at who could join the BBN before Kentucky opens up practice for Fan Day this Saturday.
LB Nigel Glover, TBD
It’s a three-team race in the unusual recruitment of Nigel Glover. The four-star linebacker from outside of Dayton was the highest-ranked member of Pat Fitzgerald’s highest-ranked recruiting class. He committed early, limiting his exposure on the trail. Now as the first prolific departure from Northwestern, he’s the most sought after player on the market.
Kentucky received the first official visit early last week. He followed that with trips to Ohio State and Michigan, two schools that didn’t offer him during his initial recruitment. There also appears to be a numbers crunch for each program. Ideally, Nigel Glover is ready for the first day of practice at whatever school he chooses, which means we’ll hear a decision in the next day or two. It’s time for Vince Marrow to make one final play to secure a surprising 2023 recruiting win in August.
EDGE Steven Soles, TBD
Steven Soles has been on Kentucky’s radar for awhile. The recruiting intensity kicked up a notch or two or ten when he unofficially visited Lexington last week. Only a few days after returning home to Powell, TN, the three-star talent shared he will be announcing a commitment this week. Virginia Tech, Mississippi State and USF have also hosted Soles for unofficial visits, but it feels like the Wildcats are the team to beat. Kentucky currently has a significant advantage in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM).
The addition of Soles to the Wildcats’ 2024 recruiting class could lay the foundation at the position. With one locked in, Kentucky can take big swings on Brian Robinson and flipping the Smith Twins from Michigan.

RB Jason Patterson, Aug. 1
People forget that Jason Patterson is on the verge of picking a school, only because we haven’t heard from the talented running back that much as of late. Make no mistake about it, the kid can play. In 2022 he was the state of Florida’s leading rusher with over 2,700 yards and 35 touchdowns. A four-star talent according to the On3 Consensus, he could create a powerful 1-2 punch in the UK backfield alongside another Florida talent, Tovani Mizell. The insiders have spoken and they’re predicting good news for Kentucky football on Tuesday.
QB Stone Saunders, Aug. 4
For most of the Mark Stoops era, Kentucky has relied almost exclusively on transfers to fill the quarterback position. After securing a commitment from Cutter Boley late in the 2024 cycle, the Cats could be right on schedule in 2025.
Friday night at 6:30 pm EST on ABC27 News (WHTM-TV), QB Stone Saunders will choose between Kentucky, Georgia, Michigan, Nebraska, and Miami (FL). A fringe four-star prospect, he’s ranked just outside of the Top 300 at No. 333 in the On3 Industry Ranking. The last time he was one a football field, the sophomore led his team to a state championship and he was named Gatorade Player of the Year in the state of Pennsylvania. He threw for 3,500+ yards and 54 touchdowns a sophomore. Not too shabby.
Stone Saunders has a close family connection with Liam Coen. That’s one of many reasons why Adam Luckett is not the only one predicting a significant recruiting win for Kentucky.
