Kentucky Football Countdown: 93 Days till Kickoff
KSR is counting down the days until football returns to Kroger Field. We cannot profile a player on each day, so this will allow us time to shed light on some of the best to wear No. 93. But first, this year’s No. 93 on the Kentucky football team.
Wilson Berry — Entering his second season in Lexington, the Australian punter’s career got off to a rocky start. He punted four times (37 yards per kick) before a nagging back injury forced him to the sideline for the rest of the season. Even if he’s 100% healthy, the starting punting gig appears to be Colin Goodfellow’s. Wilson is the younger brother of Jordan Berry, the NFL vet who created the Aussie pipeline to Kentucky when he signed with Dean Hood at EKU.
Max Duffy — The greatest punter to ever punt footballs (and a subpar podcaster) is Kentucky’s first and only Ray Guy Award Winner. Given to the nation’s top college punter, he took home the award in 2019 after averaging 48.1 yards per punt. He has three of the best six punting seasons in UK history and holds the school record for career punting average with 45.96 yards per punt.

Two plays are partially responsible for a pair of big Kentucky football wins. One fake against Missouri iced a win, but his flashiest play actually came in the Cats’ Gator Bowl victory.
The ’93 Peach Bowl Cats — Bill Curry’s fourth season was the former Alabama head coach’s most successful at Kentucky. After Florida’s Chris Doering delivered heartbreak early in the season, the Wildcats rebounded with a 21-0 victory over #25 Ole Miss. Option QB Pookie Jones rushed for more than 1,000 yards to lead Kentucky to a 6-5 record and a berth in the Peach Bowl against Clemson. Marty Moore picked off a game-clinching interception with a minute remaining, but fumbled it back to the Tigers, leading to a gut-wrenching 14-13 loss in Atlanta.
