Kentucky Football Countdown: No. 94 Colin Goodfellow

Less than a week before players report back to campus for summer training, KSR is counting down the days till Kentucky kicks off the 2022 season against Miami (Oh.). With only 94 days remaining, let’s take a closer look at the Wildcats’ fourth down quarterback.
About Goodfellow
For the sixth straight season, Colin Goodfellow will punt footballs for the University of Kentucky. A product of Cleveland powerhouse St. Ignatius, also Darian Kinnard‘s alma mater, the former walk-on was not the heir apparent to Max Duffy, but he’s filled in and exceeded expectations.
In 2021 Goodfellow averaged 45.94 yards per punt over 10 games, the third-highest mark in the SEC. The second-highest average in a single season by a UK punter, he was featured on the Ray Guy Award Watch List.
Goodfellow Career Highlight
Last fall he bombed a punt 70 yards against Mississippi State. It was the second-straight game where he kicked a career-long 70-yard punt. He’s the first Wildcat to ever kick two 70+ yards punts. No, they still aren’t the longest punts in school history. In 1983 Randy Jenkins blasted a 78-yarder two months after Paul Calhoun bombed one 80 yards.

Colin Goodfellow Fun Fact
The Kentucky punter might be the nation’s foremost expert on the transfer portal. He entered and exited the portal twice this spring. If you know someone who needs helping filling out transfer portal paperwork, Goodfellow is your guy.
2022 Forecast
Kentucky’s special teams are in good hands (er, feet?) with Goodfellow. Over two seasons as UK’s primary punter, he’s consistently brought a big leg on fourth downs. If he takes his game to the next level by improving his hang time, the Wildcats can win the field position battle in close games by excelling on special teams.
