Kentucky fought hard during Saturday’s loss to No. 1 Georgia, and coaches across the country noticed the effort. As a result, the Wildcats dropped just three spots in the updated AFCA Coaches Poll that was released on Sunday afternoon. Entering Week 7 at No. 11, UK dropped to No. 14 heading into the Week 8 BYE.

On Saturday night, ESPN updated its Power Rankings, also placing Kentucky at No. 14.

Losing to the definitive No. 1 team in the nation, the Georgia Bulldogs, is nothing to make fun of. UGA is simply the better team and has proved it all season long against every opponent. That being said, Kentucky did manage to score two touchdowns through the air after Georgia had allowed just one through its first six games of the season. A 17-point loss doesn’t kill the hopes for a special season.

Kentucky also received some help from the programs below them in the rankings. Four teams previously ranked between Nos. 17 and 22 (Florida, Arkansas, Brigham Young, and Arizona State) all lost on Saturday, dropping them from the Top 25 entirely.
