If today feels like an especially good one, it’s because the Kentucky Football team kicked off fall camp. This morning, the Wildcats took to the practice fields outside the Joe Craft Football Training Center. Sadly, the media wasn’t allowed in — although we’ll be there on Saturday for Fan Day — but the folks at Kentucky Wildcats TV did us a solid and shared one and a half minutes of highlights.

My highlights of those highlights include…

  • Barion Brown wearing No. 7 (that’s going to take some getting used to)
  • Our first glimpse of Jay Boulware, the new running backs coach/special teams coordinator, whom I’m sure those who are not morning people thought has way too much energy that early.
  • Vince Marrow yelling at Josh Kattus
  • Seeing Kentucky’s new kicker — and Lou Groza Award Watch List memberAlex Raynor in action
  • Spotting differences and similarities between Mike Stoops and Mark Stoops during the ten seconds or so of Mike Stoops footage
  • Liam Coen back in his rightful place
  • Defensive backs coach Chris Collins yelling, “SQUEEZE! That ball’s wet!
  • Devin Leary throwing the ball, obviously

I wish we got to see more of Zach Yenser and the offensive line, or the camera at least panned lower. There’s going to be a spotlight on them this season.

Kentucky also shared some photos from practice, a gallery of which you can see below:

Details for Kentucky Football Fan Day

On Saturday, you can see the Wildcats practice yourself. The program’s annual Fan Day includes an open practice, the details of which we got earlier this week. Gates to the Joe Craft Football Training Center will open Saturday at 10 a.m. in the plaza outside Gate 12 of Kroger Field. An hour later, Kentucky’s open practice will begin at 11 a.m. and run for approximately an hour and 45 minutes until 12:45 p.m.

Fan Day is open to the public, and admission is free, as is parking in the Blue Lot outside the football stadium. Fans will be asked to stand behind the roped-off perimeter surrounding the practice fields. The schedule posters will be available for free, and you’ll be able to buy pre-packaged snacks and bottled water, along with UK merchandise from the UK Bookstore. Donations will also be accepted for a “School Supply Drive.”

If you can’t make it, KSR’s got you covered. We’re sending a small army to capture the sights and sounds, which will be on the site, KSBoard, and the KSR YouTube Channel.
