Kentucky Fined $250,000 for Storming the Field Following Florida Win
Mitch Barnhart is writing a big check to the SEC league office after Kentucky’s big Saturday celebration at Kroger Field. Kentucky must pay a $250,000 fine after fans stormed the field following the 20-13 win over No. 10 Florida. Money well spent.
This is the third time the University of Kentucky has violated the league’s policy on fans entering the field of play. UK paid $100,000 when fans entered the field following the win over Top 25 Mississippi State in 2018 and $25,000 when the Bud Dupree’s Pick Six led to a victory over South Carolina in 2014.
The policy, enacted in 2004, states that “access to competition areas shall be limited to participating student-athletes, coaches, officials, support personnel and properly-credentialed individuals at all times. For the safety of participants and spectators alike, at no time before, during or after a contest shall spectators be permitted to enter the competition area. It is the responsibility of each member institution to implement procedures to ensure compliance with this policy.”
The funds from this fine will go to support the SEC Post-Graduate Scholarship Fund.
History Made in Field-Storming Win
The victory over Florida at Kroger Field was Kentucky’s first in Lexington since 1986. The Wildcats’ record improved to 5-0 for just the fourth time in the last 70 years. Kentucky has now won seven straight games dating back to last season. It’s the longest winning streak since Fran Curci’s Cats won nine in a row in 1977.

Florida only scored 13 points in the loss. It’s the fewest by the Gators in the series since Florida scored only three in that 1986 loss at Commonwealth Stadium. Stoops now has eight wins against teams ranked in the AP Poll, just one away from tying Curci and Bear Bryant’s school record.
Views from the Field-Storming
Kroger Field was packed with people, ranging from Waka Flocka to Ryan Lemond. It was an unforgettable night in the Bluegrass.
