Kentucky football hosting Cooley brothers for weekend visit

Could we have a package deal situation on our hands with a couple of talented portal prospects?
Trevion and Tamarcus Cooley will be in Lexington this weekend to visit the Kentucky Wildcats. The two brothers entered their names into the portal to start the new year and will both be looking for their third school. They’re very different players though.
Trevion is a running back who started his career at Louisville for two years before transferring to Georgia Tech, which is where he’s been the last two seasons. Meanwhile, Tamarcus is a cornerback who started at Maryland for a year before making the move to NC State this past season.
The older Cooley brother, Trevion, will have one year of eligibility at his next stop. Across two seasons at Louisville followed by two seasons at Georgia Tech, the 5-foot-10 running back has accumulated 1,009 rushing yards and six touchdowns on 215 carries. He’s also hauled in 33 receptions for 355 yards and four more touchdowns. However, his 2024 season saw him appear in just one game due to injury. If he were to choose Kentucky, he would be viewed as a depth piece in the running back room.

As for the younger Cooley, Tamarcus will have three years of eligibility at his next stop. Of the two brothers, he’s considered the prize prospect. On3 ranks him as a Top 100 player to enter the portal this offeason. The 6-foot-1 defensive back recorded 39 tackles, six pass deflections, three interceptions, and two forced fumbles for NC State as a redshirt freshman in 2024. He graded out as the Wolfpack’s highest-graded player on defense, per Pro Football Focus. Tamarcus would likely be an immediate impact player in Kentucky’s secondary if he were to choose the ‘Cats.
Tamarcus is coming off recent visits to LSU and Ole Miss earlier this week. Missouri was previously scheduled to receive a visit, but that trip is no longer on the schedule. UK is expected to be his final visit. He and his brother Trevion aren’t viewed as a 100 percent package deal, but the two coming to Lexington at the same time is certainly notable.
