Kentucky Football Injury Update: Levis still Day-to-Day
It took about a week before we learned Will Levis suffered an injury that could sideline for a game. Kentucky has kept things quiet on the injury front. Mark Stoops says his policy is to only share if a player is going to be ruled out for a game. We received no such rulings at this week’s Monday press conference.
Prior to kickoff, Will Levis shared with the SEC Network, “I’ll be good for next week.” Stoops is not ready to state that Levis will be back, but he was listed as the starting quarterback on this week’s Kentucky depth chart. Kentucky’s head coach said Levis remains day-to-day with a foot injury.
“Obviously, when you lose one of the top players in college football, it doesn’t help your football team. But it’s still no excuse for the way we played,” said Stoops.
Other Wildcats on UK’s Injury Report
Will Levis is not the only Wildcat dealing with injuries. Typically a bye week on the schedule, Kentucky must play its seventh straight game before getting a breather next week.

“You saw other quarterbacks in the SEC that were not able to play. Will went through all of last year (healthy), and we were fortunate in that regard. This year, unable to do that in this case,” said Stoops. “Injuries are a part of it. Every team has them. You go through some ups and downs. Not sure we’ve gone through seven straight (games) since I’ve been here. We’ve got to heal up, fight hard this week, and we got to get back to work and work exceptionally hard to prepare for this game. There is a bye coming up after that and the guys will definitely need some some time to rest.”
All three starting Kentucky wide receivers appeared to get dinged up in the South Carolina game. Barion Brown turned his ankle late, but shook it off and spoke to reporters following the game. Dane Key injured his wrist near the UK sideline, but KSR has learned it’s just a sprain. Tayvion Robinson took quite a tumble. Trainers assessed the Virginia Tech transfer for a few minutes before he hobbled back to the Kentucky sideline.
Deondre Buford started at right tackle against South Carolina after Jeremy Flax suffered a hamstring injury on the final drive of the Ole Miss game. Jacquez Jones was also sidelined last Saturday. Left off this week’s depth chart, do not expect to see No. 10 in uniform until after the Bye.
