Injury Updates on Rodriguez, McCall and more: "We'll see"
The Kentucky football team is banged up. How banged up? That remains unclear. When asked about specific injuries, Mark Stoops responded, “We’ll see.”
When pressed even further, Stoops opened up a little by saying, “We’ll see.”
— Dare Rosenthal was slow to get off the field Saturday night at Mississippi State. A former LSU Tiger, Kentucky’s starting left tackle suffered an apparent knee injury. Sources tell KSR it is not a major injury and Rosenthal could potentially be available against Tennessee.
— Jordan Wright previously missed the Chattanooga game with an ankle injury. The senior outside linebacker was carted off the field late in the second quarter at Davis Wade Stadium.
— Marquan McCall was playing his best football when the nose guard was injured in the first quarter of the Florida game. There’s no indication that he will return to action, still absent from Kentucky’s depth chart.
Chris Rodriguez’s Injury “Issue”
Something was wrong with Chris Rodriguez Saturday night. What exactly that was, we do not know. The Kentucky running back previously suffered a minor wrist injury. Stoops clarified that the wrist was not C-Rod’s problem. However, he did not get into any other details about the “issue” Rodriguez was dealing with.

“I’m not going to make excuses…” Stoops said, “This stuff happens. Again, we’re not withholding information. It’s like last week with Chris, things happen. Injuries happen.”
Unexpected Return?
D’Eryk Jackson was not expected to play in 2021. The linebacker from South Georgia was the projected replacement for Jamin Davis until he suffered a torn Achilles during a non-contact drill in spring practice.
Saturday night he was spotted dressed on the UK sideline. Stoops said Jackson is “closer” to returning to action, but as you can tell, he wasn’t too eager to share any injury information.
“Nobody’s giving me a scouting report on injuries, know what I mean? I can’t. We’ll see as the week goes on. It’s Monday. I haven’t seen these players yet today, so I’m not trying to be a prick about it,” Stoops said. “Who knows whether they’re available or not.”
