The long wait is over. It has been 245 days since the Big Blue Nation has been treated to a Kentucky football spectacle. That drought ends tonight at Kroger Field when the Wildcats open up Mark Stoops’ tenth season in Lexington against Miami, Oh. at 7 pm EST.

Throughout the drought Will Levis became one of the most scrutinized college football quarterbacks in America. NFL scouts and pundits fell in love with his tools, while rivals pushed back the hype. In the midst of the highs, there were also lows. Chris Rodriguez and Jordan Wright, two team captains, will be sidelined for the opener due to unknown circumstances. Another captain, Kenneth Horsey, is also unlikely to play after suffering a minor preseason injury.

Tonight the time for talking comes to a close. We’re sick of it. You’re sick of it. Mark Stoops is sick of it. It’s time to put words into action against a team that plays sound football. Miami is the most storied program in the MAC. The Redhawks are projected to win their division with four-year starter QB Brett Gabbert leading the charge. Miami will not beat themselves. The Wildcats have to take it. The preseason hype will not help them once everyone is between the lines, pads are popping and it’s Football Time in the Bluegrass™.

This “Computer Game” is Streaming

You will not be able to find the Kentucky-Miami game on your TV guide. The Kentucky football opener will be streamed exclusively on ESPN+ and SEC Network+. If you have the SEC Network, then you should have access to SEC Network+. Tyler Thompson shares a detailed rundown of how it all works, but here’s the shorter version of the story:

Rain in the Forecast

Labor Day weekend can produce some scorchers for the fans at Kroger Field. You will not be sweating your buns off, but you still might be wet. Overcast conditions have moved into Central Kentucky, with forecasters calling for a 50% chance of scattered showers at 8 pm. For two teams that want to run the football, Mother Nature might make this a night for the Wildcats’ stable of running backs to shine.

Stoops can make Kentucky Football History

Mark Stoops’ first win as a head coach was against Miami, Oh. Today against Miami, Oh. he can tie Bear Bryant with 60 wins at the University of Kentucky. Stoops will also become the first Kentucky head coach to ever spend ten seasons in Lexington. Even though Stoops will downplay the historic achievements, the BBN is certainly free to toast the head coach.

Today’s Kentucky Football Uniforms

The Kentucky football team will kick off the season with a traditional look, rocking blue lids and jerseys with white pants.
