Kentucky football makes Top 10 for 4-star twins Jerod and Jacob Smith
Talk about some good genes.
On Wednesday afternoon, class of 2024 four-star recruits Jerod and Jacob Smith both announced that they are down to just 10 schools, with the Kentucky Wildcats making the cut. The twin brothers currently play at The Loomis Chaffee School in Windsor, CT but are previously from Somerset, KY where they played their first two years of high school football before transferring ahead of the 2021 season and reclassifying to the 2024 class.
The talented brothers are considered Top 200 high school junior prospects, according to the On3 Consensus, with Jacob (EDGE) ranked No. 105 overall and Jerod (DL) ranked No. 189 overall. Joining UK in their Top 10 are Alabama, Georgia, Penn State, Michigan, Ole Miss, Notre Dame, Iowa, Nebraska, and Texas.
Not a bad list to choose from…
Prior to leaving the Bluegrass State for a Connecticut boarding school, Kentucky was one of the first Divison I schools to offer the Smiths, which came shortly after they took an unofficial visit to UK in June 2021. Jacob Smith tells KSR that he and his brother will “possibly” visit Lexington once again this weekend for the program’s Junior Day.
The twins told On3’s Chad Simmons back in October that they currently plan to attend the same college program.

“I feel we’ll probably end up going to the same school,” Jacob Smith said. “Just because we have similar interests and the same goals.”
At this stage in their process, Notre Dame appears to be the team leading the charge. The Smith family made a trip to South Bend earlier this month and regularly talks with members of the Fighting Irish coaching staff. On3’s Notre Dame recruiting insider, Mike Singer, recently reported that education is near the top of the family’s list of priorities, which makes the Irish stick out just a bit more. The plan is for Jacob and Jerod to make a final decision on their birthday in August.
