Kentucky football moves up one spot in Week 9 Coaches Poll

Kentucky football was off this weekend, but they still moved up in the polls.

On Sunday afternoon, the Week 9 AFCA Coaches Poll was released with the Wildcats moving up one spot from No. 18 to No. 17 in the country. UK had its bye week after an important 27-17 win over Mississippi State the weekend prior.

Kentucky will play again on Saturday, Oct. 29 when they travel to Knoxville for a showdown against No. 3 Tennessee. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. EST on ESPN.

Kentucky is one of seven SEC schools to crack the updated Top 25. Georgia remains No. 1 overall while Tennessee jumped a spot to No. 3. Alabama comes in at No. 6 and Ole Miss at No. 12. The likes of LSU (No. 20) and South Carolina (No. 25) both made their Coaches Poll debuts.

Earlier on Sunday, ESPN updated its Power Rankings as we head into Week 9. Kentucky also moved up one spot from No. 18 to No. 17. The updated Football Power Index (FPI) was released, as well, which saw the ‘Cats move down two spots to No. 33. Kentucky’s projected win-loss record remains set at 7.4-4.6, according to the FPI, giving them a 98.9 percent chance to win six games but just a 0.2 percent chance to win the SEC East.
