It’s unclear if the transfer portal doles out frequent flyer miles. If so, offensive lineman Wallace Unamba is piling up points.

Unamba was one of five offseason additions to the offensive line from the transfer portal. 247’s Chris Hummer reports Unamba is returning to the transfer portal after just a few months at Kentucky.

A 6-foot-6, 335-pound offensive lineman, he began his career in the junior college ranks. After earning NJCAA All-American honors during his three-year stint at Kilgore, he bounced around between schools, logging one season at Florida Atlantic and one season at New Mexico. Unamba started in ten games last fall for the Lobos at right tackle and did not allow a sack.

Upon his arrival at Kentucky, Unamba was not plugged into the starting lineup. He spent the spring as RG2, while rotating in at offensive tackle. Unamba suffered what appeared to be a minor injury near the end of the Kentucky Spring Showcase.

Ahead of spring practice, there was a logjam in the interior. It was unclear who would be the odd man out. Unamba appeared to be a priority because of his positional versatility (especially after RT2 Anfernee Crease hit the transfer) but he has decided to look elsewhere.

Unfortunately, transferring for just one spring practice is not uncommon. Last year, Raymond Cottrell transferred from Texas A&M to Kentucky. After spring ball, the wide receiver returned to the transfer portal and landed at West Florida. In three games, Cottrell caught three passes for 23 yards for the D-II program.
