Cam Dooley is tired of waiting.

The Kentucky football recruit initially planned on announcing his college decision on July 4. He’s bringing the fireworks early. The Alabama athlete revealed he will now make his commitment Saturday, July 1 at 5 pm EST.

There will be three hats on the table for his decision: Vanderbilt, Missouri and Kentucky. He officially visited all three schools, starting with a trip to Lexington. The Wildcats are the favorite according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM).

Cam Dooley is a 6-foot-4, 200-pound athlete from Valley, Alabama. Unranked by the major recruiting services, his first love was basketball. Once he got more comfortable playing safety, SEC programs took notice.

Dooley plays a little bit of everything for Valley High School, taking snaps at quarterback and catching passes at wide receiver. Frank Buffano and Zach Yenser like what he brings to the table as a defensive back. A rangy athlete that covers a lot of ground, he’s a raw talent with a ton of upside at safety.

After taking multiple trips to Lexington this spring and summer, the Alabama athlete shared with Jacob Polacheck what he likes about the Kentucky football program.

“I love the program. I love how they treat me and I love how they treat me as a player. I’m not even there yet or committed, but they treat me like I’m family already,” he said.

“They’re telling me and my parents good things about their program. I like what Coach [Mark] Stoops told me. He talked to me and my family and said that he really liked me and my family.”

Dooley is not the only Kentucky football recruit announcing a decision on Saturday. Four-star linebacker Elijah Groves is committing tomorrow morning at 10 am. The dice are feeling hot, Big Blue Nation.
