Kentucky Football Recruiting Calendar Opens Door for 2025 Prospects

August 1 is significant for more reasons than one. The changing of the calendar reminds us that real football games will be played this month. It also serves as the start of preseason college football practices and NFL Training Camps across the country. You may not know that it’s also a big deal in the world of football recruiting.
When the clock struck midnight, coaches received the green light to directly contact rising juniors in the 2025 recruiting class. Until today, players like Stone Saunders and Amaree Williams could only speak with coaches if they initiated the conversation. Now prospects can get a better feel on how they’re being prioritized by various coaches.
Saunders did not need the recruiting calendar to change to know where UK stands in his recruitment. The talented quarterback is announcing his decision Friday evening. Georgia, Michigan, Nebraska, and Miami (FL) are finalists, but the Wildcats are the favorite. I digress.
The new recruiting calendar also adds a new wrinkle for the 2024 recruiting class. Previously verbal scholarship offers were just that, verbal. Now schools across the country can issue formal written scholarship offers. Feeds are flooded with graphics from athletic departments as recruits show off their lengthy list of official offers.

Most of the offers on the Twitter/X timeline originate from committed Kentucky prospects. Quaysheed Scott, Tovani Mizell and Antwan Smith were among the members of the Cats’ 2024 recruiting class that shared the graphics they received from UK. Uncommitted Florida targets RB Travis Kerney and WR Hardley Gilmore also shared their Kentucky football official offers.
In the midst of multiple decisions, there’s plenty of work to do elsewhere. That’s why you gotta stick to your ABCs — Always Be ‘Crootin.
