Kentucky Enters the Mix for Elite QB Prospect

High school recruiting may no longer be the lifeblood of a program, but the transfer portal has not completely diminished its significance, especially for quarterback prospects. The best of the best commit early in the process. Kentucky is making sure it’s on the ground floor as a future star ascends the recruiting rankings.
On Wednesday morning, Kentucky extended a scholarship offer to Teddy Jarrard. A rising junior in the 2027 class, he’s already On3’s seventh-ranked quarterback and the No. 107 overall player in the country.
Jarrard hails from Kennesaw, Georgia, about 30 minutes north of Atlanta. As a sophomore, the 6-foot-3 athlete threw for 2,783 yards and 34 touchdowns.
This summer will likely be a busy one for the young quarterback. This is the ideal time for him to work out with coaches at camps before he narrows his list of schools. There are currently more than two dozen who have extended scholarships, and his list of suitors includes big-name schools like Georgia, Miami, Auburn, Arkansas, Mississippi State, and Wisconsin.

Kentucky already has one quarterback committed in the 2027 recruiting class. That doesn’t mean they won’t take two, as they did in the 2025 recruiting cycle.
DJ Hunter committed to Kentucky in April after taking a couple of unofficial visits to Lexington. The Knoxville native has family in the area, and that includes his cousin, Kentucky safety Ty Bryant. He’s considering a move to the Commonwealth ahead of his junior season, but nothing is finalized yet. Hunter recently told Jacob Polacheck that he’s excited to represent the Blue and White.
“My main goals are to come in and compete for a spot, and hopefully win that spot to start early,” Hunter told KSR+. “I want to bring the winning tradition back to Kentucky.”
