Kentucky Football Hosting More Official Visitors as Dead Period Looms

Summer is a busy time for high school football recruiting. It’s nearing its crescendo. The dead period begins one week from today. Kentucky is using the final 10 days to host as many of its targets as possible before many return home to make final decisions.
The Wildcats hosted five players for official visits over the weekend. Three more players arrived in Lexington on Sunday. As they depart on Tuesday, four more players will arrive in Lexington. Here’s a rundown of who will be on campus for mid-week officials before the final Kentucky football recruiting weekend of the summer.
Kentucky Football Official Visitors (June 17-19)
IOL Da’Ron Parks: 3-Star, No. 431 overall, 6-4, 360 lbs., Cardinal Mooney (Sarasota, FL)
Parks is the most prolific player arriving on campus this week, and arguably the most important. Kentucky lost another IOL target to Louisville over the weekend. Parks would be considered an upgrade, but it’s going to be a daunting task for Eric Wolford. Auburn got him on campus for an official visit, but the perceived favorite is the home state school, Florida State. He was in Tallahassee over the weekend, but there’s another wrinkle. Ohio State offered him later in the process and this weekend he’ll be in Columbus for an official visit.
DL Garrett Witherington: 3-star, No. 949 overall, 6-4, 290 lbs., Briarwood Christian (Birmingham, AL)
Kentucky will get the last crack at a talented trench player from the South. Witherington previously officially visited Stanford, Georgia Tech, and Mississippi State. The Bulldogs are making a strong push. Can Kentucky make a big move before he gets into decision-making mode?

RB SirPaul Cheeks: 3-Star, No. 1,159 overall, 6-9, 175 lbs., Varina (Chesterfield, VA)
Cheeks made headlines at KSR when Kentucky entered the picture because of his nickname, “Jesus in Cleats.” Kentucky might need him to be the savior in the running back room, where the Wildcats don’t have a ton of targets. He is a track star with exceptional speed who plans on committing on July 1. West Virginia and Virginia Tech are Kentucky’s top competition.
TE Ben Moseley: 3-Star, 6-5, 210 lbs., Cherokee County (Centre, AL)
Moseley was not being recruited by power conference programs until later in the process. Vince Marrow offered him a scholarship in early June. The coach’s departure did not force Moseley to change plans. He spent last weekend at Georgia Tech. It feels like a two-horse race in this recruitment.
