A prospect with a low profile and a high ceiling is prepared to announce his college decision. Trelain Maddox revealed he will pull the trigger and announce a commitment Tuesday afternoon. Maddox, a talented athlete from the Atlanta metro area, has three finalists: Georgia Tech, Rutgers and Kentucky.

Trelain Maddox is a 6-foot-2, 190-pound three-star prospect, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services.

A two-way star last fall for Buford High School, Trelain Maddox played running back and linebacker. At the next level he’s the kind of tweener that could excel as a nickel. Similar to Alex Afari, he’s big enough to be a run-supporting linebacker, but fast enough to cover wide receivers in space.

Kentucky sees the scheme fit and that’s exactly what Chris Collins and Brad White have been pitching throughout the recruiting process.

“I’m that guy that would fit in with your scheme and would love to get to know all of you,” is the message to the BBN he shared with Jacob Polacheck of KSR+.

Trelain Maddox recently made the trip up I-75 to Lexington. Could he follow up that trip by becoming the second Atlanta area player to commit to Kentucky this week? Or will he stay home and commit to the Ramblin’ Wreck of Georgia Tech? We’ll find out Tuesday at 4 pm EST.
