Kentucky Football staying after fast-rising QB Christopher Vizzina

Kentucky was the first Power 5 offer for quarterback Christopher Vizzina, but the competition has quickly heated up.
Now considered a top 100 player in the class of 2023 by our friends at On3, the 6-foot-3 gunslinger has been hearing from several big-name programs as his stock continues to rise. The likes of Auburn, Florida, and Notre Dame have already offered, along with Kentucky, while Alabama, Clemson, and Georgia are showing significant interest.
Vizzina, who plays at Briarwood Christian (AL), was in Lexington to watch UK beat LSU 42-21 back on Oct. 9. Recently, Vizzina caught up with On3‘s director of recruiting Chad Simmons to break down where he’s at right now. He spoke about five schools, in particular, all from the SEC: Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, and Kentucky.
Here’s what Vizzina had to say about the ‘Cats.
KENTUCKY: “I really like the Kentucky fan base. Kentucky football is really starting to roll and it was easy to see that everyone is excited to be a part of that. The fans there stood out to me a lot. It is nice to see they are on the rise.”

Vizzina added that he’s in no rush to make a decision; he’s still in the process of visiting campuses and building relationships. He’s already been to Lexington multiple times since picking up an offer back in May.

KSR spoke to Vizzina back in May following his offer from UK. He said that new offensive coordinator Liam Coen’s offense has played a big role in his interest. This was before Kentucky had even played a game.
“I’ve always been interested in Kentucky just by living down here in the south,” Vizzina said. “Just knowing that Kentucky has produced some pretty good QB’s is very humbling to me to know that the coaching staff thinks I could be another great one in line. I really like Coach Coen, when we talked on the phone he was very high on my skill set and compared a lot of things I do on the field to Jared Goff.”
Back in May, he wasn’t even a ranked prospect; now he’s going to be one of the most talented quarterbacks in his class. Kentucky has positioned itself to stay in contention for Vizzina as he continues to blow up on the national scene.
