Kentucky football targeting 49ers' Zach Yenser as next OL coach
Kentucky has zeroed in on San Francisco 49ers assistant offensive line coach Zach Yenser to replace Eric Wolford in Lexington.
Barring a last-minute change, Yenser is expected to be named the new offensive line coach at Kentucky, sources tell KSR’s own Matt Jones.
Yenser, a native of Ft. Mitchell, just wrapped up his third season with the 49ers as the team’s assistant OL coach. Under head coach Kyle Shanahan, Yenser’s unit has helped pave the path for San Francisco to finish top-15 in rushing in each of the past three seasons, including a No. 2 finish with 2,305 total yards in 2019.
He joined the staff after spending three of the previous four seasons (2015-17) as the run game coordinator and offensive line coach at Kansas. Prior to his time with the Jayhawks, he served as the offensive line coach at California (2013-14) and held various positions at Louisiana Tech (2010-12). Yenser has worked with veteran coach Sonny Dykes at LA Tech, Cal and SMU (2018, quality control coach).

His coaching career started as a graduate assistant at Troy in 2007, the start of his connection to the Kentucky football program. Yenser was an assistant under John Schlarman (OL coach) and Neal Brown (offensive coordinator).
Now, it appears Yenser will be continuing Schlarman’s legacy in Lexington as the program’s next offensive line coach.
UPDATE
Football Scoops and Bruce Feldman confirm KSR’s report. Yenser will officially join Stoops’ coaching staff once UK HR can complete the process in about 10 days.
