The second week of the spring football transfer portal window is sending more official visitors to the University of Kentucky.

Former Rutgers defensive lineman Rene Konga will start his official visit to Kentucky on Monday, reports On3’s Steve Wiltfong. He has been in the Commonwealth all weekend, kicking things off with an official visit to Louisville.

Konga has two years of eligibility remaining. The 6-foot-4, 290-pound athlete has received interest from Penn State, Wake Forest, Kansas, Cincinnati, and Miami. Texas A&M is also trying to get Konga to take an official visit to College Station.

A rotational player at Rutgers throughout his four years in Piscataway, he could provide some much-needed depth after the Cats suffered a myriad of injuries on the defensive line during spring practice. The two-time All-Big Ten academic performer had seven pressures on 100 pass rush opportunities last season, including a strip sack. He played multiple positions at Rutgers, something Kentucky has pitched Konga early in the recruiting process.

“I’ve been told I’d be playing a lot of three-technique, but depending on the package I could get moved around,” Konga told KSR+. “It’s a staff that acknowledges my versatility. I was talking to the coaches yesterday and I really want to become good at every position. I want to play inside and outside in any situation. The contact we’ve had has been mostly about three-technique.”

Another Kentucky Target might be Off the Board

Konga is expected to be the first of a handful of transfer portal visitors on Kentucky’s campus this week. One of those visits may have been canceled.

Former Louisville and Florida State defensive back Greedy Vance was set to see the sights in Lexington next weekend. USC got the first visit. 247 Sports’ Matt Zenitz expects Vance to pledge his allegiance to the Trojans, although an official announcement has not yet been made. Steve Wiltfong has also logged a pick for USC to land Vance. The hay is likely in the barn.
