Kentucky Transfer Portal Class Ranked in Top 10 by Multiple Outlets
The first wave of the transfer portal was an eventful one for the Kentucky Wildcats. A couple of media outlets believe it was a successful one for Mark Stoops’ program.
Most of the movement in the transfer portal happened ahead of the dead period. During that 2-3 week time, Kentucky lost 22 players and added 14. The transfer portal is closed to new entries, but the Wildcats are expected to add more pieces to the puzzle before classes begin on campus in mid-January.
Before the dust settles completely, ESPN believes Stoops put together one of the ten best transfer portal classes in college football. ESPN’s Craig Haubert ranks Kentucky’s 14 new additions as the sixth-best group in the country.

The Wildcats’ first losing season since 2020 has them looking to bounce back in 2025 with transfers poised to be a big part of that process. With Brock Vandagriff retiring and backup Gavin Wimsatt leaving, Kentucky will look to another transfer quarterback to lead the offense in the experienced and strong-armed Zach Calzada (Incarnate Word). Calzada has spent time with Texas A&M, Auburn and most recently FCS Incarnate Word, where he threw for more than 3,500 yards and 35 TDs. Receiver Kendrick Law arrives from Alabama, where he contributed for three seasons. He is a versatile player with good speed.
Alex Wollschlaeger, a multiyear offensive line starter on a Bowling Green team that steadily improved during his tenure, is a good addition. Another good pickup out of the MAC, this time on the defensive side of the ball, is pass-rush specialist Kameron Olds, who comes from Kent State.

This ranking is a subjective list from an ESPN byline I’ve never seen before. I can understand why you might be skeptical. That’s why it was encouraging to see that 247 Sports also has Kentucky’s transfer portal class ranked in the Top 10. Using 247’s transfer portal database, the Kentucky class comes in at No. 9.
One more thing to consider about these rankings is that they don’t factor in departures. That’s where our friends at On3 enter the picture. Kentucky must replace a significant amount of production from players who are ranked among the best individual talents in the transfer portal. When factoring in arrivals and departures, the Kentucky transfer portal class is ranked No. 32 by On3.
