Kentucky added 8 top-200 players to roster in transfer portal

The spring signing period started on Wednesday but the roster-building (for now) is all but done for the Kentucky football program. The Wildcats still value high school recruiting, and are not quitting that model, but a roster flip could only happen this offseason if the Cats went transfer-heavy.
We saw that play out in December and January.
Kentucky added 19 scholarship transfers to the roster. Eight of them can be found ranked inside On3’s top-200. Three more are inside the top-300.

The line of scrimmage was an area of emphasis on both sides of the ball for Kentucky. We saw the Wildcats add five offensive line transfers and an in-line tight end to the roster on offense. Three defensive line players and two EDGE additions were made on defense. Kentucky invested resources into the trenches.

Mi’Quise Grace (defensive end), Alex Wollschlaeger (offensive tackle), Joshua Braun (offensive guard), Shiyazh Pete (offensive tackle), David Gusta (defensive tackle), Tru Edwards (wide receiver), Dante Dowdell (tailback), and Kendrick Law (tailback) were all top-200 additions for Kentucky. In KSR’s early depth chart projection, each of these players are expected to play big roles this season.

Kentucky did not sign any top line transfers this offseason but they addressed some needs with volume. That has all led to a noticeable roster flip in Lexington where there will be plenty of new faces on offense and defense.
