Time for our weekly recruiting update presented by our friend Andy Luedecke at MyPerfectFranchise. It was a bit of a slow week on the recruiting trail for Kentucky football as the program prepares for a top 15 showdown on the road against Ole Miss on Saturday. But the coaching staff still made sure to scout around for potential future Wildcats. Interestingly enough, with the 2023 recruiting class slowly beginning to wrap up, only high school seniors were extended scholarships from Kentucky over the last seven days.

Let’s see who they are.

Class of 2023 offers

Tyler Scott (CB) 6-2, 185 | Pebblebrook (Mableton, GA) Arkansas State commit
3-star: No. 1195 overall, No. 113 CB

  • Currently committed to Arkansas State, Tyler Scott might reconsider his options sooner rather than later. Since committing to the Red Wolves back in June, Scott has picked up plenty of high-major offers from the likes of Auburn, Mississippi State, Missouri, South Carolina, West Virginia, and Tennessee. Exactly one week ago, Kentucky got involved too after defensive backs coach Chris Collins extended an offer. At this moment, however, Auburn appears to have the inside edge. Scott visited the Tigers earlier this month and is currently predicted to flip to Auburn, according to On3’s RPM.

Brandyn Hillman (ATH) 6-1, 190 | Churchland (Portsmouth, VA)

  • Much like Tyler Scott, Brandyn Hillman is another red-hot senior prospect. His offer from Kentucky came via running backs coach John Settle and defensive coordinator Brad White on Thursday, his eighth from a Power 5 program since Saturday. A scholarship from Notre Dame on Wednesday was particularly significant. Hillman is listed as an ATH, suiting up at safety and quarterback for Virginia’s Churchland High School. His next step will be to set up official visits this fall.

Kyron Jones (RB) 6-0, 195 | Charlotte Christian (Charlotte, NC)

  • The NC State Wolfpack is considered the frontrunner for North Carolina product Kyron Jones, who is tabbed as a three-star running back per On3’s player rankings. But that didn’t stop Kentucky running backs coach John Settle from offering him on Tuesday. Jones has also hauled in offers from Notre Dame, West Virginia, and Miami (FL) this week. He visited NC State earlier this month, too. UK offering another running back feels notable, as the staff already has two ball carriers locked in for the ’23 class with eyes focused on a couple more in Jamarion Wilcox and Jaquez Keyes.

Carter Schwartz (P) 6-3, 215 | Trinity (Louisville, KY)

  • Kentucky doesn’t often offer special teams players, so Louisville Trinity’s Carter Schwartz hauling in a preferred walk-on opportunity from Louie Matsakis on Wednesday was notable. Schwartz camped at UK over the summer and the staff clearly likes what he brings to the field as a punter. The former soccer player has been training under All-American punter Max Duffy, who spent three seasons as a Wildcat. Schwartz is considered a 4.5-star punter, according to Kohl’s Kicking.
