Kentucky WR Clevan Thomas will return for Super Senior season
Kentucky will have another veteran in the wide receivers’ room next fall. Clevan Thomas is expected to return for the 2022 UK football season. Liam Coen confirmed what sources have told KSR in a candid conversation on today’s 11 Personnel.
Thomas spent his fifth season in Lexington wearing a headset on the UK sideline. Near the end of spring practice he suffered a torn ACL, effectively ending his 2021 season. Prior to the injury, his performance impressed the new UK offensive coordinator.
“He’s done some really nice things, some really nice things,” Coen said during the first week of spring practice. “He’s working his tail off. He runs great routes. He’s hustling around and he’s really one of the only guys playing multiple positions right now and he can handle it.”

A 5-foot-11 Miami native, Thomas was a three-star prospect and a top 100 receiver when signed with the Wildcats in 2017. Designated to a reserve role in his first two seasons, his career appeared to take off in 2019 … until Terry Wilson suffered a season-ending knee injury. He has 16 career receptions for 169 yards and a touchdown.
Clevan Thomas is not bringing eye-popping production to Scott Woodward’s position group. He is providing much-needed experience to a group that is losing its two vocal leaders, Wan’Dale Robinson and Josh Ali. Kentucky has recruited a ton of young, talented wide receivers over the past two seasons. Thomas can ensure that talent is not wasted by practicing good habits throughout the offseason.
