After limited playing time as a freshman at Kentucky in 2023-24, Jordan Burks has entered his name into the transfer portal, according to On3’s Jamie Shaw.

Burks was a late addition to John Calipari’s 2023 recruiting class last offseason. He appeared in 20 games during his rookie campaign in Lexington, averaging 1.9 points and 1.7 rebounds in 7.2 minutes per outing. Burks was a three-star recruit in high school out of Overtime Elite.

He will have three years of eligibility remaining.

Burks’ one season in Lexington will be remembered on the court by his 13-point, five-rebound performance on the road against Vanderbilt in February. He made all six of his shots against the Commodores in a dominant win for Kentucky. He also recorded seven points and three rebounds in a win over New Mexico State.

However, the 6-foot-8 forward only saw at least 10 minutes in seven of his 20 games played.

Off the floor, Burks will be remembered by the Big Blue Nation as an energizer. Even though he didn’t receive the playing time he likely thought he deserved, that didn’t deter him from being a good teammate. From cheering on the bench to hyping up his team in huddles to being a joy to talk to in interviews, a smile was always worn by the native of Alabama.

But with Calipari headed to Arkansas and Mark Pope filling in as the new head coach at Kentucky, it’s no shock to see Burks put himself on the market. He was the last remaining piece from this season’s team yet to make a decision on his future. A full-on rebuild is officially underway in Lexington.
