Kentucky has been a developmental football program with Mark Stoops at the helm. Entering year 10 under the former Florida State defensive coordinator, the Wildcats have consistently overachieved expectations.

Those expectations are usually set by multiple sportsbooks out in Las Vegas. Consistently, Kentucky has seen their season win total float around 5, 6, and 7 games. The over ticket has constantly cashed for the Big Blue. In 2022, the bar is being raised by the bookmakers. Expectations should be high after a successful spring.

On Tuesday, WynnBET released season win totals for the SEC East, and Kentucky is seeing a different number by their name.

The total comes in at eight, and Kentucky is projected to have the third-best record in the division. Not surprisingly, Georgia will be a heavy favorite to repeat and reach Atlanta for the SEC title game but Kentucky will be competing with both Florida and Tennessee for second-place honors in the division.

The eight-win total is the highest of the Stoops era and the clear top number in recent history. When diving into the schedule, that number appears to be achievable.

  • Sept. 3: Miami (Ohio)
  • Sept. 10: @ Florida
  • Sept. 17: Youngstown State
  • Sept. 24: Northern Illinois
  • Oct. 1: @ Ole Miss
  • Oct. 8: South Carolina
  • Oct. 15: Mississippi State
  • Oct. 29: @ Tennessee
  • Nov. 5: @ Missouri
  • Nov. 12: Vanderbilt
  • Nov. 19: Georgia
  • Nov. 26: Louisville

The Wildcats get eight games at Kroger Field and should be a betting favorite in everyone outside of the SEC finale against Georgia. Meanwhile, the road trips are all manageable and occur in spots where Kentucky will likely be a small road favorite or a small road dog.

A 7-1 run at home is quite possible, and just one win on the road would score a push. The total could come down to the meeting at Neyland Stadium where Kentucky would look to revenge last year’s close loss at Kroger Field. Both the Vols and the Big Blue appear to be the dark horses for the division.

Football is coming.
