The 2023 college football recruiting calendar is turning a new page. Camps and combines are beginning to pop up as recruits schedule visits to college campuses during spring practices. The national recruiting team at On3 Sports is getting you ready with an updated look at the On300 rankings.

Kentucky has one football commitment in the updated On300, wide receiver Shamar Porter. The 6-foot-4 pass-catcher from Nashville Ensworth committed to Kentucky Jan. 28. A four-star prospect, in the rankings update he dropped from the seventh-ranked wide receiver and No. 59 player overall to No. 120.

As Kentucky fans, this is nothing new. In fact, the precipitous fall is come to be expected at this point. We’ve seen it many times before: highly-ranked recruit commits to Kentucky, then his ranking nearly doubles. Regardless of where Porter falls in the final rankings, Kentucky needs to do what they can to make sure this guy sticks around for the long haul.

Other Notable Prospects in the Updated On300

Arch Manning still stands alone at the top of the On300. Not far behind is Christopher Vizzina, who is now the fourth-ranked quarterback after jumping up to No. 20 from No. 74 overall. A Kentucky quarterback target, prior to Liam Coen’s departure Vizzina shared that he could visit Lexington during UK spring practice. Regardless of what happened on UK’s campus, Vizzina appears to be trending toward Clemson.

Malik Hartford is Vince Marrow’s latest big-time recruit from Lakota West High School. The Cincinnati suburb has sent a couple of talented players to Kentucky, most notably Alex Afari and George Asago-Adjei. A 6-foot-3, 175-pound athlete, the previously unranked defensive back climbed all the way to No. 144 overall. Ohio State, Cincinnati, Notre Dame and Louisville are also in the mix for Hartford.

There are currently zero athletes from the state of Kentucky in the On300. Louisville St. X defensive lineman Micah Carter fell out of the On300. He was previously ranked No. 268. The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine currently gives UK an 81.5% chance to secure a commitment from Carter. Tennessee offensive lineman Luke Brown, another UK target, fell out of the On300 after he was previously ranked No. 294.
