Kentucky, Indiana in "advanced discussions" for multi-year series, per report
The rumblings of the Kentucky vs. Indiana series making a comeback just got a little louder. Multiple sources tell Jon Rothstein that the two schools are in “advanced discussions” to play a multi-year series with games both on campus and at neutral sites. Before you get too excited, Rothstein reports that the series isn’t expected to start for “a couple of years.”
Of course, Kentucky and Indiana haven’t played a regular season game since December 2011, when the Hoosiers beat the Cats at Assembly Hall. The eventual national champions got revenge a few months later, beating Indiana in the Sweet Sixteen in Atlanta. The two schools met again in the second round of the 2016 NCAA Tournament when Indiana knocked out Tyler Ulis, Jamal Murray, and the Cats 73-67. Kentucky leads the series 32-25.
It seems like every year, talk of the Kentucky vs. Indiana series coming back resurfaces. Prior to now, the hangup has been home-and-home vs. neutral site, with John Calipari insisting on the latter and Indiana insisting on the former. It seems both sides have finally come to an agreement.
