Kentucky is getting hosed at halftime vs. No. 1 Auburn

Kentucky finished the half with zero field goals in the last 7:21 while missing ten consecutive field goals. Auburn hit seven first-half 3-pointers as a team that makes just 9.3 per game with one player averaging 2.1 3-pointers per game knocking down five of them on his way to a game-high 17 points. Meanwhile, another 25-year-old who should be scrolling through LinkedIn right now has 16 points. Oh, and the Wildcats have hit just one 3-pointer on nine attempts.
Those aren’t the main takeaways, though. The only thing that matters is that we’ve gotten approximately 942 monitor reviews with 429 combined foul calls and free throws in the first half as the officials have made this product unwatchable. The whistles have been egregious leading to massive swings — including one that saw a missed Lamont Butler layup turn into two free throws and possession the other direction. How? Why? How does a game that starts at 1 PM ET go to halftime at 2:15 PM ET when there are only 20 minutes of live game action to be played?
This is how.
Amari Williams leads the way with 12 points and nine rebounds — although he has added four turnovers — followed by Andrew Carr with seven, Lamont Butler with six, Koby Brea with five and Otega Oweh with four. No one else has scored a point for the Cats.

20 minutes to get things figured out. Hopefully.
Either way, at least we know Bruce Pearl’s reverse psychology worked.
