Mark Stoops is changing up Kentucky’s road routine.

Winless away from Kroger Field in 2019, the UK football team will not practice in Lexington before departing for Nashville. Instead, they’ll run through their Friday practice at the Tennessee Titans’ indoor facility.

“I am going to change things just slightly from our Friday routine as far as leaving a little earlier, getting down there. We are going to go to the Titans’ indoor facility and have a brief workout once we get there on Friday to try to just not have the monotony of a long bus ride, getting off there and going to the hotel. We are going to leave earlier, go there, grab a quick lunch, have some meetings, go have a quick workout and come back,” Stoops said on Monday.

“It’s always cool to go somewhere else and for a lot of guys in our locker room that have that aspiration, to just walk around, to be in there, to see that atmosphere; hopefully it provides a little bit of juice,” said defensive coordinator, and former Indianapolis Colts coach, Brad White.

Playing at half-full Vanderbilt Stadium isn’t the most exciting experience in the SEC. Kentucky cruised in their last trip Nashville, defeating the Commodores 44-21, but Stoops would rather not see his team mirror their last performance in The Volunteer State.

“We played well the last time we were in there and hopefully we will go and play good this year, this week,” Stoops said. “Hopefully that will change some things up because I wasn’t pleased with the last time that I drove to Tennessee. Hopefully that’ll help.”
