Kentucky is winless against Ohio State, with a losing overall record in the CBS Sports Classic
Let’s leave the CBS Sports Classic in 2024. It’s time for Kentucky to move on. Some great memories were made over the eleven-year run–usually against North Carolina–and now Kentucky should find other December opportunities in the future.
After getting drilled by Ohio State in the 2024 CBS Sports Classic, the Wildcats fell to a losing record in the annual doubleheader event. Kentucky dropped to 5-6 in the CBS Sports Classic with Saturday’s loss to the Buckeyes. Even worse, Kentucky is winless against Ohio State in three meetings.

There must be something about New York, too. Kentucky is 0-3 when the CBS Sports Classic is in New York, losing twice to Ohio State, first in 2015 in the Barclays Center and again Saturday in Madison Square Garden. Jamal Murray‘s 33 points on 7-for-9 shooting from 3 couldn’t even beat Ohio State in 2015.
The CBS Sports Classic was extended through 2026 in 2022; however, next year’s game does not have a location or a date. Let’s forget about it. Everyone goes their separate ways. Kentucky can play UNC in the ACC/SEC Challenge, and the other two schools can take their winning records against Kentucky and get lost.
