At the Half: Kansas State leads Kentucky 29-26
After 20 minutes of play, No. 3 Kansas State leads No. 6 Kentucky 29-26 in one of the ugliest halves of basketball I’ve laid eyes on.
Nothing is really going right for the Cats. They actually led by 8, 17-9, but that lead quickly fell away due to foul trouble and bizarre substitutions. Kentucky has no answer for Kansas State point guard Markquis Nowell, who has 4 points, 5 assists, 2 turnovers, and 1 rebound. Meanwhile, Cason Wallace has 6 points, 4 rebounds, 4 turnovers, and only 2 assists. He also took a knee to the head and had to come out of the game for a moment before checking back in. Both he and Jacob Toppin have two fouls. Oscar leads all scorers with 11 points and 11 rebounds, but also has four turnovers.
Kentucky’s shooting an abysmal 29.4% (10-34) from the floor, 18.2% (2-11) from the outside. Kansas State is 41.4% (12-29) from the floor and 0-12 from three. Kentucky is winning the rebounding battle 26-16, but has 11 turnovers to Kansas State’s 5. The purple Wildcats have 8 steals, while the blue Wildcats only have 3. Guard play has to improve.
More numbers below, if you dare.
