Kentucky Lands 3-Star Quarterback Brennen Ward
The dice are staying hot. After slow starts in the 2023 and 2024 cycle, Kentucky is wracking up early commitments in 2025. On Thursday afternoon quarterback Brennen Ward became the fourth player to join the Wildcats’ class.
Brennen Ward is announcing his decision a day after taking an unofficial visit to Kentucky. Recruited by Vince Marrow, Ward is from the Columbus, OH suburb of Gahanna. A 6-foot-2, 205-pound passer, he’s a three-star talent ranked as the No. 24 overall quarterback in the 2025 recruiting class, according to On3.
He’s the second quarterback commitment in the Cats’ top 25 class, joining Pennsylvania native Stone Saunders. Kentucky also has verbal pledges from four-star wide receiver Quintin Simmons and RB Isaiah West.
Ward had scholarship offers from Indiana, Virginia, and various MAC schools. He was also being heavily pursued by Missouri’s Eli Drinkwitz when he pulled the trigger to become a Kentucky Wildcat.

Scouting Brennen Ward
Last fall Ward threw for 2,482 yards and 27 touchdowns while completing 68% of his passes. Adam Luckett is a big fan of the young passer. From his initial eval: “Brennen Ward (6-2, 205) is a pocket passer in Gahanna Lincoln’s shotgun-heavy scheme with a quick release and no wasted movement in his throwing motion. The high school quarterback owns excellent touch on vertical routes with multiple over-the-shoulder bucket throws on his junior tape,” writes Luckett.
“Ward appears to be a bare minimum above-average athlete for the position who buys time with his legs but isn’t looking to run the football. Flashes a good feel for the pocket and where to re-locate against the rush. RPO reps where Ward rips in-cut routes with some throwing velocity. Intermediate accuracy on back shoulder throws and hitting windows over second-level defenders. Translatable skill set to become a quality Power Five starter.”
