Kentucky leads North Florida 37-23 at half
It took the Cats a while to warm up, but once they did, we got some entertaining basketball. After 20 minutes of play, Kentucky leads North Florida 37-23. The Cats actually trailed the Ospreys 16-14 with 7:30 remaining, but went on a 6-0 run, spurred by an insane alley-oop from Dontaie Allen to Daimion Collins and back-to-back buckets by Sahvir Wheeler.
Collins got his first start tonight in place of Keion Brooks, who is out due to illness, along with Davion Mintz. The freshman has made the most of his opportunity so far. He and Sahvir Wheeler lead the team in scoring with eight points each. TyTy Washington and Oscar Tshiebwe have seven points each. This won’t surprise you, but Tshiebwe already has 11 rebounds.
Overall, Kentucky is shooting 41% (16-39) from the floor, which is up from 25% at the 7:30 mark. Slowly but surely, they’re warming up…
