Kentucky leads Southern 38-34 at half
It hasn’t been pretty but Kentucky leads Southern 38-34 at halftime at Rupp Arena. It’s been a sloppy affair, with the Cats turning the ball over 10 times, leading to 12 Jaguar points. TyTy Washington and Oscar Tshiebwe both sat most of the half with two fouls each. Southern actually had a 9-2 lead to start before the Cats stormed back to tie it up at 11 at the 13:17 mark. Give Sean Woods’ team credit; they’ve refused to go away thus far, keeping it close throughout the first 20 minutes.
Kellan Grady leads Kentucky with nine points on 3-4 from three-point land. After missing three games due to illness, Davion Mintz is back and shaking off the rust, chipping in seven points on 2-7 from the floor. With Oscar limited to due to foul trouble, Jacob Toppin, Daimion Collins, and Mintz are leading the way in rebounding with four boards each. The Cats have a 22-13 advantage on the glass.
