In a game that feels like a must-win, so far, the Cats are doing well. After 20 minutes of play, Kentucky leads LSU 42-38.

The adjustments Kentucky made on offense are working for the most part. The Cats have 11 assists so far, five from Sahvir Wheeler, who also has eight points and five rebounds. Oscar Tshiebwe leads the team in scoring with 12 points (5-5 FG, 2-4 FT) and 8 rebounds, followed by Cason Wallace with 9 points and 2 assists. Daimion Collins has been a pleasant surprise thus far, coming off the bench to put up 2 points, 1 rebound, and 1 block in 7 minutes. Tellingly, Kentucky has only played seven guys thus far, further confirmation that John Calipari is shortening his rotation.

Kentucky is shooting 57.1% from the floor and holding LSU to 51.9%. The Tigers, namely Adam Miller and KJ Williams, have made some big shots. Those two are a combined 5-10 from three thus far, with Williams leading the Tigers with 13 points. To pull this one out, Kentucky needs to tighten up defensively. I’ll refrain from discussing the officiating but it was frustrating.

Check out the first-half stats below, and keep up the intensity, Cats.
