Grand Valley State defensive tackle transfer Jay’viar Suggs is one of the hottest commodities available in the portal right now. And Kentucky is among his group of finalists.

Suggs announced through social media on Thursday that he’s down to LSU, Michigan, Wisconsin, and the Wildcats.

“My recruitment is officially closed thank you to everyone who reached out…” Suggs wrote. “locked in on these 4 schools… please respect my decision.”

The 6-foot-3, 280-pound lineman, who has two years of eligibility remaining, was in Lexington last week for a visit after the Kentucky staff extended him an offer on April 26. He visited Southern California and Florida State over the weekend, as well, but neither cracked his top four. Arkansas and Wisconsin also received visits, with the Badgers making the final cut.

Of note, LSU did not make Suggs’ top six, which he released on May 7. But a couple of days later, the Tigers were included in the top four. A visit to Baton Rouge is on the table “within the next week”, per The Bengal Tiger.

After spending the last five seasons at Grand Valley State, Suggs will still have two years of eligibility remaining as a graduate student. He redshirted in 2019 before the 2020 season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. His 2021 season was limited due to injury.

In 2022, Suggs registered 21 tackles, seven tackles for loss, three sacks, five pass breakups, and one forced fumble. This past season, he totaled 21 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, and five sacks to go along with four pass breakups and a forced fumble.
