Just over a month ago, DaKaari Nelson released a list of his top 11 schools that did not include Kentucky. On Monday afternoon, the Wildcats snuck their way into his top six.

Nelson is a 6-foot-3, 195-pound class of 2023 safety out of Selma, AL. He’s considered a four-star prospect by the On3 Consensus, which tabs him as the No. 249 overall recruit, the No. 21 overall safety, and the No. 19 overall prospect out of Alabama. Kentucky helps make up a top-six that includes some of college football’s heavyweights: Clemson, Penn State, Oregon, Tennessee, and Auburn, which all made his previous top 11.

Nelson initially received his UK offer from former offensive line coach Eric Wolford back in late December, however, the relationship has seemingly gained serious steam in the wake of Wolford’s departure to Alabama. Here’s what Nelson told On3’s Jeremy Johnson about Kentucky.

Kentucky: “Kentucky made it because of how hard they’ve been recruiting me and how much effort they put into recruiting me.”

Nelson has yet to take a visit to Lexington, although that could change this summer. As of right now, he has an official visit planned for Penn State the weekend of June 10. He’s already taken unofficial visits to Clemson, Penn State, Tennessee, and Auburn. Of his top six, Nelson has not taken a visit to Kentucky or Oregon.
