Kentucky makes Top 9 for '23 4-star DL Sydir Mitchell
One of the nation’s top junior defensive linemen is high on the Wildcats.
On Sunday afternoon, class of 2023 four-star Sydir Mitchell included Kentucky among his top nine college choices. The ‘Cats join a loaded list of competition: Texas, Texas A&M, Georgia, Tennessee, Rutgers, Miami (FL), LSU, and Auburn. Mitchell hails from Bergen Catholic out of Oradell, NJ, and is considered the No. 302 prospect in the country, according to the On3 Consensus.
Mitchell initially received his offer from Kentucky back in Oct. 2021, which came from defensive coordinator Brad White and wide receivers coach Scott Woodward. The 6-foot-4, 345-pound defensive lineman recently spoke with Brian Dohn of 247Sports where he broke down all nine of his top schools.

Here’s what Mitchell had to say about the ‘Cats.
Kentucky: “We’ve been in contact ever since they offered me and they kept it real with me. Also, they have good players and all-around, the coaching staff is great. They actually have a couple of people who just got draft. I hear the environment is good. I was supposed to go down there but I couldn’t make it.”
Brian Dohn, 247Sports
This summer, Mitchell has visits planned for Georgia (May 20) and Texas A&M (June 24). Since March, he’s already taken visits to Auburn, Texas, Texas A&M, Miami (FL), Georgia, and Rutgers. He does not currently have a visit scheduled to Kentucky at this time but is in the process of setting one up.
There is no clear frontrunner for Mitchell, however, the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM) currently has Penn State as the leader at 28.0 percent with home-state Rutgers not far behind in second with a 16.6 percent of landing the four-star lineman.
