Kentucky MBB and WBB Teams are joining the TikTok craze

Kentucky Basketball has hit TikTok.

Well, they’ve been on the app for a while now, but as the new social media platform continues to rise in fame, so does the popularity of those getting the most views. The student-athletes suiting up for the Kentucky Men’s and Women’s Basketball Teams are already pretty well-known figures in the hoops world. Making viral TikTok videos is just the next step in helping them expand their potential marketing opportunities allowed by the new name, image, and likeness rules.

For instance, did you know that Jacob Toppin and Dontaie Allen have a combined 43,000-plus followers? Rhyne Howard has several videos with 10,000-plus views, including one that’s closing in on 250,000. For some of the app’s most famous stars, those numbers aren’t all that crazy, but for student-athletes looking to monetize their brands, it’s a potentially untapped gold mine.

After hours of *research* I’ve returned with some of the best TikToks I could find across the UK Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams. What I found was funny, interesting, sometimes NSFW (college kids do, in fact, like swear words), and even educational here and there.

I didn’t list all of the TikTok accounts below (only a few players from the Women’s team have an account while roughly half of the Men’s team does) but went with what I thought was best. There was plenty to choose from.
