No. 2 Kentucky Men's Soccer Keeps Streak of Draws Going
Kentucky men’s soccer continues to uphold its #2 national ranking even though they have been unable to come up with a win over its last three games. On Wednesday, Kentucky faced fellow Sun Belt Conference opponent, Coastal Carolina, at The Bell Soccer Complex at the University of Kentucky on a cold, windy night.
The Wildcat was ready for the match up and so was a packed crowd. Coming into the match, Kentucky remained undefeated (8-0-4) while Coastal (3-3-5) sat at .500 on the season. Most people expected this to be an easier game for the ‘Cats, but from the start, they were never able to find the spark that they needed to get the win
Although Kentucky had many more corner attempts compared to Coastal in the first half, the ‘Cats could not find the back of the net.
‘Cats Go Into Halftime Scoreless and Tied
After halftime, Kentucky came out with more fire than it seemed like it had in the first. There was more of a sense of urgency from the team and it was evident that everyone was wanting to end their two-match streak of draws.
Enzo Mauriz, a junior midfielder for Kentucky, is typically the one who takes the corner kicks for the team. After many failed attempts in the first half, Mauriz came back out in the second and had another attempt from the corner that looked good.
