Kentucky has missed on one of its top tight end targets in the transfer portal. New Mexico transfer Keayen Nead has committed to BYU, he tells KSR+.

The 6-foot-5 and 262-pound tight end took an official visit to Kentucky on April 19. He earned an offer on the trip.

The transfer committed to New Mexico from FCS Weber State this past winter. He was slated to be New Mexico’s starting tight end during spring practice but decided to leave the program after a few months. BYU has issued a scholarship offer, but Kentucky got the transfer on campus first. The Wildcats currently only have four scholarship tight ends on the roster.

Transfer Portal Class

Kentucky has the nation’s No. 8-ranked transfer portal, according to On3. That gives UK the No. 4-ranked transfer class in the SEC.
