There were a lot of big moments in Kentucky’s 91-89 win over Mississippi State but only one really matters. After Josh Hubbard hit his seventh three of the night to tie the game at 89 with ten seconds left, Reed Sheppard one-upped him, taking a pass from DJ Wagner, driving the lane, and floating in the game-winner. It was absolutely spectacular.
Those were just two of Reed’s 32 points, 23 of which came in the second half. He also had seven assists, five rebounds, two blocks, and two steals. Antonio Reeves was the only other Kentucky player to score in double figures in the second half with 14. The coaching staff has been begging Reed to take more shots and tonight, he did, hitting 11-14. He had 11 points in the last 90 seconds. Without Reed, Kentucky probably wouldn’t be bringing home a very big road win.
