Kentucky moves up in latest Coaches Poll Top 25 update
Kentucky didn’t play a football game this week, but other results across the country helped move the Wildcats up a couple of spots in at least one national poll.
When the Week 7 Coaches Poll Top 25 was updated on Sunday afternoon, Kentucky checked in with 12 points, good enough for No. 31 overall — a two-spot jump from the Week 6 rankings. UK was aided by a dominant performance from Ole Miss, which smacked South Carolina 27-3 on Saturday. Kentucky had just upset the Rebels 20-17 on the road the week prior.
Notably, the Vanderbilt Commodores made an appearance in the latest Coaches Poll after pulling off a historic 40-35 upset win over Alabama in Nashville. Vandy is receiving four points, good enough for No. 38 in the nation. Kentucky hosts the Commodores next weekend at Kroger Field with the Wildcats starting out as double-digit favorites.
The Week 7 Coaches Poll now includes six SEC teams ranked among the Top 10 (and nine within the Top 25), headlined by top-ranked Texas. Alabama, Ole Miss, Tennessee, and LSU fill the No. 7-10 spots in order while Georgia moved up one spot to No. 4 thanks to a big bounceback win over Auburn. We also saw Lousiville take a nosedive out of the Top 25, going from No. 22 last week to No. 42 this week after losing at home to SMU.
